This is a really elegant set of high-quality dishes. Creamy white with a brilliant sheen and weighty enough to feel substantial. They're beautiful to look at and to touch. Artesano plates sport only a miter cut edge, which makes the edge both wider and more interesting than a rounded edge. It also makes the plates look heavier than they actually are. The rice bowls are 1/4" thick, matching the plate edge and are perfectly plain. The pasta bowl is slightly thinner and has the same mitered edge. Like a diamond solitaire, this design is absolutely beautiful in its simplicity. TWO YEARS LATER: Still love the dishes, and they remain in perfect condition. Excellent purchase. Why did I choose this? I had bought accent pieces of hand-painted Polish pottery and needed basic service that would complement it, not compete. I couldn't find cream colored pottery that did what I needed, and so I went with porcelain, though the two don't normally pair. Artesano gave me what I needed, and it's simply beautiful with the Polish pottery AND on its own. Honestly, I pick them up again and again to enjoy the feel and elegant look! 5 stars in my book!

Very nice, basic dishes. I had some high end stoneware that did not hold up. So I'm back to porcelain, which tends not to show wear so easily.

I wanted a quality everyday dinnerware that was simple, not pure white, casual but not pottery looking, classic look with a modern twist, and could go in the microwave and dishwasher. Artesano by Villeroy & Boch checked all the boxes. They are elevated everyday that can take daily use. I also liked that mugs were not included but a small bowl (perfect for ice cream and yogurt) and larger wider bowl (perfect for large salads and pasta). No damaged pieces during delivery.
