I purchased two oval serving bowls several months ago. They are the perfect shape for our narrow table which leaves only a narrow strip down the center for serving dishes once the table is set. In addition, the size is just right for a couple or small family even with a few guests. In the past year, I also purchased place settings for twelve, two platters, and cappuccino mugs in the Italian Country pattern to use daily. I have experienced absolutely no problems! The serving pieces have a more distinct design than the place settings and mugs. To me, this probably reduces the likelihood of chips on the most used pieces and adds a timeless quality to the set — definitely a plus rather than a minus!
