When King Leonidas and the three hundred Spartan Hoplites under his command held off the Persian army at the Thermopylae pass, the courage and sacrifice of these Greek warriors entered into the realm of legend for evermore. This black porcelain sculpture depicts one of those brave soldiers equipped with his spectacular helmet with plumes, a mask that can be placed or removed to reveal the warrior's face thanks to a magnet system shield, lance, and armor. The wealth of detail, added to the decoration, the precisely modeled anatomy and the meticulous ornamentation demonstrate an extraordinary degree of virtuosity. Made in black porcelain and decorated with metallic copper, blue and black enamels. The shield is painted with black luster with a marble effect while the helmet is decorated with aged silver luster. Snoopy and Charlie Brown are famous characters created by Charles Schulz for the Peanuts comic strip and Lladro artists have now recreated them again in porcelain. Snoopy Flying Ace faithfully reproduces Snoopy in one of his fantasies as a daring pilot. Ariel, the main character in The Little Mermaid, another of the great hits of Disney, comes from the hand of Lladro artists made in glazed porcelain.

Since time immemorial, hand gestures have been a language in their own right. Their expressiveness and symbolism have made them a method of communication. On this occasion, our artists have focused on the language of mudras, gestures that arrived at yoga, and meditation from Hinduism or Buddhism. For the former, there is a total of 24 mudras, one for each hour of the day, with each one having its own different benefits. For the latter, they are gestures that predispose the body to meditation and help them to concentrate. Protection Mudra is inspired by these age-old gestures and is depicted as a raised hand with the palm facing outward. In this particular version, the hand is decorated with minutely etched plant motifs intertwined with the fingers, and with a porcelain flower on the thumb, as if it were a part of the pattern that had come to life. Various shades of golden luster were used in the decoration, sometimes with a matte finish, other times glazed. Meanwhile, the flower, handmade petal by petal, is in a tone somewhere between yellow, and pink and a subtle golden sparkle.

Atlas, son of Iapetus and the nymph Clymene LED the rebellion of the Titans against Zeus and, as a punishment, he was condemned to hold up the sky on his shoulders countless legends exist about this strong man who bore the weight of the celestial spheres to keep them separate from the earth and maintain the balance of the universe. He was also attributed with great learning in mathematics and astrology. Making this Atlas required a set of 12 different molds to create the porcelain fragments to compose the final piece. To further enhance the strength of this god, it was decided not to apply any other color except for some carefully chosen touches of golden luster and the iridescent metalized enamels of the sphere.

The starling is a small bird that nevertheless offers one of nature's most beautiful sights when they flock together and fly as one in what is known as a murmuration. When flying in flocks these little birds synchronize their movements to form amazing patterns that cover the sky like dancing clouds. Lladró artists have focused on the bird's unique iridescent feathers, with sheens, captured in these starlings in the minute ornamentation.

Rendering Senbajo's drawing in porcelain called for outstanding work in two main areas. On one hand, the ornamentation team had to etch each one of the strokes by hand so that they could be recreated in the pieces. On the other, it required the expert hands of the decoration team to carefully paint them in black and golden luster.

In the Chinese zodiac, 2022 is the year of the tiger and it is hoped that, in tune with what this animal represents, it will be a year of adventures, enjoyment, and courage.

Ten years after first creating The Guest, the celebrated Spanish designer is presenting Embraced, a person hugging himself. In the artist's own words: "It represents the concept of looking after yourself.".

This version of The Guest is signed by Kzeng Jiang, the first artist of Chinese origin to join the creative universe of this iconic character. A creative based in Shanghai, his work captures the contemporary culture of the East through vibrant and radical illustrations. Kzeng seeks to capture his cultural roots through the symbolism of traditions such as Chinese face painting or Song dynasty flowers. Elements that he reinterprets under his prism and that in this case are represented, for example, with three large eyes on the face that, according to the author, "allows him to see, past, present and future as if he were a messenger traveling through time". At the chromatic level, Kzeng resorts to blues on white porcelain to achieve visual harmony and balance. Colors that he combines with golden luster strokes to create that sense of prestige that was so typical of ancient Chinese porcelain. The result is a creation that conveys the elegance of porcelain and is an example of the most conceptual and contemporary design.

Guillaume Grando, known under the artistic name of Supakitch, is the author of the two new The Guest. Supakitch began his career as a graffiti artist in the early 90s and, since then, the fluidity required in the application of graffiti has marked the sinuosity of the strokes of his work. His creative proposals focus on gesture, movement, liquid matter, color, and the reflection of light. Elements that are masterfully captured in the versions of The Guest that he has worked on for Lladro. Porcelain and, in particular, the use of degraded pearl luster, have been ideal for reproducing that water effect to which the reflection of light seems to give movement and depth. A result that is reinforced by the volume of the waves that cover the surface of the pieces.
