The white plum blossom branches on this baluster vase are not painted on; the ground is painted around them. Artisans lay a warm coral red field across the surface and reserve the flowers in the porcelain beneath, so the blossoms glow rather than sit on top. Legend of Asia has the piece thrown and fired hot in southern China, leaving the porcelain vase dense, watertight and sealed for indoor or outdoor display. Small shifts in tone across the red vase are normal on a hand glazed ceramic vase and give each one its own depth. At full height it is a floor vase, not a tabletop accent, and the tall vase silhouette flanks a hearth or doorway convincingly. The accent vase warms a neutral room, whether the scheme is chinoiserie decor or broader asian decor.
