This piece is an ingenious juxtaposition of detail and sparseness, color and transparency, space and form. The vermillion bird appears like the blazing sun, distant yet near, forever shining, representing our deepest wishes. The nature of glass transports the light and presents a space for imagination to spark. Ariel, the main character in The Little Mermaid, another of the great hits of Disney, comes from the hand of Lladro artists made in glazed porcelain.

This design depicts the dragon in natural repose as it winds around to form a taichi and conveys its power. The dragon’s head emerges with a persistent gaze as it safeguards the natural order in a way only it can command. Liuli absorbs and reflects light across varying sculptural depths and polished surfaces to convey the dragon’s internal power. The design as a whole is built upon Daoist philosophy: From taichi, two complementary forces are born; from two complementary forces, four aggregates are born; from four aggregates, eight trigrams are born. This is also symbolic of the dragon - a mythical beast that unites all with the power of the sun under the natural order. In the vast universe, the sun is the source of all life. The dragon nurtures and guides the world in harmonious coexistence.

This sculpture in the style of contemporary realism, with its ornate sculptural details, captures the ephemerality of existence and solidifies it in Liuli. The free-flowing liuli streams move like traces of time, prolonged yet transient, volatile yet tranquil. May the new year bring a new outlook on our place in nature and time.

This exclusive high porcelain piece is a limited edition of 500 units. Made in glazed porcelain, the knight’s costume and parts of the horse’s harness are decorated with a newly created bluing luster which manages to emulate the characteristic dark grey metallic color of the chainmail worn by knights at the time. Blue and white tones combined with golden lusters were used for the clothing. Carried out with great attention to detail, the work is composed of 71 fragments taken from 58 different molds. Particularly noteworthy is the sense of movement conveyed by the knight and his steed, thanks to Lladró’s artists’ consummate control of sculptural technique and of the expressive potential of porcelain.

A marine fantasy scene, in which two young mermaids ride in the depths of the sea on a conch shell drawn by two seahorses. The smaller mermaid carries a mandolin and the other an amphora. Highlights are the exquisitely delicate underwater vegetation: the fine corals, the colorful seaweed, ... made with the same technique as porcelain flowers. This is one of the few Lladro pieces whose subject matter requires such work, and on which Lladró artisans have taken such pains to create a masterpiece.
