I was excited when I ordered this as it would have been perfect in our living room. But, when I received it, the square piece that surrounds the clock looked totally different than the picture. In the picture it reminds me of a leopard or a tortoise shell background with the darker crystals. When I received it, the background was a gold color and the crystals were clear. The relief itself is inspired by ancient sundials as well as patterns in nature, and the name Minos refers to the labyrinth-like surface of the clock. While the labyrinth of King Minos held a mythological being, Manon Novelli’s clock figuratively holds time. In an era of rushing, Minos’ subtle design invites to interpreting time more broadly and slowing down to appreciate it.
