Cypresses gained ground in Van Gogh's work by late June 1889 when he resolved to devote one of his first series in Saint-Remy to the towering trees. Distinctive for their rich impasto, his exuberant on-the-spot studies include the Met's close-up vertical view of cypresses and this majestic horizontal composition, which he illustrated in reed-pen drawings sent to his brother on July 2. Van Gogh regarded the present work as one of his "best" summer landscapes and was prompted that September to make two studio renditions: one on the same scale (National Gallery, London) and the other a smaller replica, intended as a gift for his mother and sister (private collection). giclee on gallery-wrapped canvas enriches the experience by emulating the original canvas piece.

Love the pictures but one arrived damaged with a small piece of glass underneath the glass covering the pictures. This should have been checked with QA before shipping, but we are still looking forward to the replacements. Customer Service was excellent in helping to get a replacement. Lisa was a studio art and biology double major in undergrad at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. However, since the day she graduated she hasn't worked with biology! The painting was always her focus, specifically the portraiture and figures. Her work focuses mostly on women. Lisa loves depicting them in ways they are not often depicted in art and imagery in general; aggressive, powerful, confrontational, not passive, and hypersexualized. She paints loose, expressive portraiture and figures in interiors with a pattern-rich, saturated aesthetic using a lot of different materials.
Erica Hauser is a New York-based artist who is influenced by Mid-Century design, colors, and vintage handmade aesthetics. Erica focuses primarily on patterns and how shapes coexist with each other on a surface. She also finds inspiration in the concept of what makes us who we are, based on what we choose to look at and think about. Her work is about gathering materials to see what we respond to.
