In our first collaboration, acclaimed interior designers Mara Miller and Jesse Carrier and third-generation art house Soicher Marin present Open Studio, five collections that reflect Carrier and Company’s own sensibility and love of art. Blue in My Corner 1 recalls the early work of Robert Motherwell, the influential American abstract expressionist painter. This abstract composition on paper is marked by two contrasting blocks of color in snowy white and Aegean blue. A solid shape in steel gray punctuates the lower portion of the picture plane while hand-drawn marks provide a focal point. Embedded scraps of newsprint lend a bit of texture to the work. A rejection of realism, Blue in My Corner 1 serves as a dialogue between poetry and art in this emotional work on canvas. An original addition to the exclusive art.
