LIULI Crystal Art
The world is connected in a myriad of intricate ways by the formless dao - a way of existing in the world…like an emotion or a conscious perception. Fish come from oceans, rivers, and ponds to meet upon this hulu gourd. In pursuit of the heart’s dao, people come together and relationships are formed. In China, this is called yuan, a word akin to fate or destiny. Here two fish meet and look toward the same future, in harmony with each other and the times. From the front, the fish appear in delicate relief. From the back, the high-polish and engraved surface implies the presence of deep waters. Front and back together cleverly the internal and external qualities of existence and non-existence.
Made in the shape of an ancient Chinese gold ingot, this tabletop ornament symbolizes good luck in wealth and fortune. Crafted with precision, the piece utilizes an auspicious and culturally traditional shape with a loose-set crystal ball to bring good balance in life.---------------------Founded in 1987 by studio glass artists Loretta H. Yang and Chang Yi, LIULI has grown from a modest workshop in Taiwan to Asia’s leading crystal art brand. Liuli is the phonetic spelling of the Han Dynasty term for glass art and is used to honor the Chinese heritage and culture. Records show that thousands of years ago, the Chinese were highly skilled in pâte de verre a.k.a lost wax casting but the craft was subsequently forgotten. Yang and Chang revived the craft and reintroduced it into the international arena.Today, LIULI has 41 galleries worldwide, and Loretta’s and Chang Yi’s artworks are collected at more than 35 museums around the world. These include the Victoria and Albert museum in London, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C., and the Bowers Museum in Orange County. LIULI has received multiple awards, some of which are iF Design and German Red Dot.---------------------Lawrence & Scott is an authorized LIULI Crystal Art showroom. We do not accept offers for LIULI Crystal Art pieces.

This Fengshui-inspired collection draws from millennia-old motifs in classic art to invoke the best within us: Positivity, self-encouragement, and courage. The heavenly harmony of clouds uplifts one to aspire for greatness. These artistic motifs remind us of creating that energy for ourselves in our own space that may elevate our atmosphere and forge a strong relationship with the “Fengshui” or energy of our homes and workplaces. In life, love, and business, we can find harmony anywhere.

This tabletop ornament is made with the Pate-de-Verre crystal glass casting method, combining unique color blends with master glass craftsmanship. This handmade crystal glass ornament from the Liuli studios has a loose-set crystal ball among a swirling, yet well-balanced, circular design of ocean waves. Using traditional Chinese symbolism of water for fortune, the piece shows the constant flow of riches in a concentric and well-balanced design.

Drawing from the meditative wisdom of Buddhism, Loretta H. Yang’s Tranquil Heart lotus flower represents the transcendence of worry and achievement of purity. The lotus blossoms by rising through mud, symbolizing purity and flawless peace. This exceptional type of beauty comes from within, a power of cleansing the heart and freeing oneself from negativity. That purity is embodied in this glass piece, an artwork that expertly uses transparency to its advantage and expression.

Buddha embodies compassion and wisdom, and the Buddha sculpture is a reminder for all of us to love and care. “Present Mindfulness” is a set of three Buddhas: Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Medicine Buddha, representing the past, the present, and the future of cultivating peace. They remind us that the past is understood through learning, and the present is understood through cultivation. This gives us a grasp of the future and releases us from apprehension. Shakyamuni Buddha guides all beings to practice compassion through their actions, words, and intentions. With boundless artfulness and intelligibility in his prose, he enlightens all beings to understand the truth and enter Buddhism, and he guides people in the present to realize the true meaning of Buddha-Dharma. In Buddhism, praying to Shakyamuni Buddha is for enlightenment, peace, and happiness.
Clusters of blooming flowers “forget-me-not” is a symbol of genuine and sincere, and enduring love. Layers of petals open toward a Liuli pearl in the center, the color blue extending outward like water. The over design is symmetrical in form, which brings forth prosperity, opulence, and beauty visually. Enveloped in flowers, liuli pearl is also the symbol of a brilliant and wondrous world.
A dancing flame is a symbol of honor and victory. The spinning Liuli pearl at the center, like the Chaos Pearl in the legend of Nezha, is born from fire. It symbolizes a sincere force that eliminates all deception, fights evil with righteousness, and symbolizes victory. In ancient Han Chinese, the flame was also referred to as the “light of glory”. It is the most scintillating part of the fire, the core.
The vermillion bird represents the element fire, the color vermilion red, the southern direction, and summer. The Shan Hai Jing describes the phoenix as being born on Dan Mountain. Also called the Dan Phoenix. The phoenix also refers to one of exceptional talent and was born in a south-facing valley at the South Pole, and symbolizes talent and lofty aspirations. The vermillion bird is said to bring prosperity, progeny, and peace. Vermilion red is also a celebratory color in traditional Asian culture for weddings and new business openings. This piece is an ingenious juxtaposition of detail and sparseness, color and transparency, space and form. The vermillion bird appears like the blazing sun, distant yet near, forever shining, representing our deepest wishes. The nature of glass transports the light and presents a space for imagination to spark. Associated with the four quadrants of the vault of heaven is the Azure dragon of the East, the Vermillion bird of the South, the white tiger of the West, and the black tortoise of the North; in the center is the Qilin (unicorn). Each region corresponds to one of the five elements: Metal (west), wood (east), water (north), fire (south), and earth (center). Moving across the night sky, the stars connect all life to the five elements. When the universe and elements are aligned, harmony ensues.
