House of Hackney
Named after the ancient warrior goddess of Britain, Andastra is a hand-painted damask with distinctive bands of color in the background. Based on a motif we found in the archives of Gainsborough, the renowned silk-weaving house, we have blown up its scale for a more modern feel while purposely preserving the original draftsman's grids (which were used to plot the design onto the loom) as our way of celebrating the time-honored craft of weaving. Each item sold enables House of Hackney to purchase and protect 35 square meters of forest, thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust the international conservation charity that safeguards our most vital natural ecosystems and threatened habitats, acre by acre.

Traditionally printed in England, the Anaconda wallpaper is a study in contrasts: The background is soft and romantic, yet its motif of intertwining serpents (a House of Hackney signature, symbolic of transformation and healing) is subversive and seductive. And, that's all without mentioning the added contrast of its luxurious, metallic bronze finish. Part of a collaboration with Liberty Oriental Carpets, the Bidjar motif in Tourmaline takes its inspiration from an antique rug, intricately woven by hand in Iran. Reminiscent of the fabrics that were once traded along the Silk Road, this wallpaper will infuse the interior with all the opulence and exoticism of ancient Persia. Our wallpaper is made using PVC-free, eco-friendly materials and promises minimal environmental impact at every stage of production.
