This distinctive walnut writing desk was inspired by the works of the late architect, Douglas Honnold. With the opening of Winterthur Museum in 1951, Henry Francis du Pont and his family moved to a regency-style villa built just across the lawn. He decorated his new house with English, French, and Italian antiques acquired early in his career as a collector. Many of those furnishings had filled the du Pont's Park Avenue apartment for the previous thirty years. One of their friends described the Park Avenue ambiance as very swagger, or elegant. Hickory Chair company's artists were inspired by an antique side table from H. F. du Pont's home the design of the 21st-century table.

With a bone herringbone inlay pattern, the handsome Luc Cocktail Table has an Ash base and shelf marrying beauty and function. This piece is inspired from a vintage piece that Suzanne found at the Paris Flea Market. ONLY available in Dove White paint on the base with standard bone inlay top.

The Darcy End table is an updated take on a traditional hexagon end table with saber legs. Perfect for flanking a sofa and an optimal height for a lamp table. The Darcy table is constructed of a radial quartered walnut veneer top, accented with a lightly antiqued brass bead detail around the perimeter. Each leg is solid beech and hand carved to maintain the tapering facets on the serpentine legs that gently taper into custom fitted ferrules.

H. F. du Pont had a penchant for the Federal and early Classical Revival styles when furnishing his home, favoring pieces with clean, geometric designs. A notable example is a New England-made tilt-top stand from around 1800, featuring a scalloped top with elegant “swept” sides and distinct blocked ends. The contrast of smooth curves with projecting corners adds a sense of drama to the piece. Hickory Chair’s modern interpretation, clad in luxurious shell, retains the charm of the original antique while introducing a contemporary, sophisticated twist. Only available as shown.

The Hatton Credenza is a perfect complement to the iconic Hatton dining table. The Hatton Credenza features unique diamond-shaped legs and precise proportions, it is fitted with robust functional storage. Behind the left and right doors are two adjustable interior shelves, a removable tray accented with bronze hardware, and a black felt interior. Behind the two center doors is a single adjustable shelf with two upper drawers for additional storage. Each drawer is standard with a black felt liner. This beautiful silhouette is a modern adaptation of a traditional Regency period mirror. The Picard mirror is finished in black lacquer and features ivory trim on the large half-bead detail that surrounds the clear beveled mirror. It has a deep coved shape that demands attention as it projects four inches from the wall.

In the mid-1700s and again one hundred years later, the naturalistic ornament of the rococo style was fashionable in American homes. The inspiration for this Hickory Chair table is a 19th-century triangular-shape salver beneath an 18th-century copper teakettle and stand in the blackwell parlor at winterthur museum. The scalloped and lobed rim encloses low-relief designs of foliate scrolls, a diamond-and-star pattern, and asymmetrical cartouches, fancy enough for the teakettle to be displayed in a parlor even when not in use. The curvaceous top of the table echoes the outline of the teakettle salver. The result is a charming form. Oxford finish with antique bronze standard.
