The citrus reamer is made of a heavy plastic that seems like it will hold up for quite some time. It did a good job of catching the seeds and not going into the bowl. You really need to be careful with this slicer! Meaning it is extra sharp which is ideal when needing to slice fruit. Not so ideal on the fingers.
