Rug & Kilim
Hand-knotted in wool and silk and originating from India, this 6x9 is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim's Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish Minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions. On the design: This particular rug draws on principles of the Swedish Grace movement, and pays homage to a Martha Gahn-esque interpretation of Art Deco geometry through a distinctly Nordic lens. The composition orchestrates a precise diagonal rhythm in terracotta and sage, punctuated by delicate geometric motifs that float within stepped patterns. Most compelling is Gahn's sophisticated handling of scale — where miniature architectural elements create a mesmerizing counterpoint to the bold diagonal movement. This is Swedish Grace at its most refined, where Deco's characteristic boldness finds expression through controlled palette and precision. The overall effect suggests both modernist restraint and the decorative confidence of 1930s Scandinavian design evolution.Custom Capable: All sizes and colors available—inquire for a quote.

This lovely vintage flatweave is equally beautiful and practical in a genuinely northern way. At first glance, one may see that the vintage carpet is deeply embedded into Scandinavian aesthetics which means that it builds upon simple geometric motifs, a pastel color palette, and the power of simplicity. It also stays true to the ideals of Scandinavian philosophy shaped in the mid-20th century which assumes that utilitarian objects should be possibly the most affordable, functional, and qualitative. The Swedish carpet’s main field is covered with an allover pattern of serrated rectangles in two sizes with gently outlined horizontal stripes and a trimming lace at the shorter opposite sides. The design is maintained in a sandy beige palette with variations in saturation, from very light to almost mustard. However, the design of this Swedish flat-woven antique carpet is not limited solely to the appearance but also encompasses usability. The Scandinavian carpet was masterfully hand-knotted of the finest wool in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan which allowed it to survive until this day without any signs of wear. The vintage carpet is reversible which even further extends its lifespan and ensures that it will serve its owners for generations. Such versatile composition is going to match all kinds of interior décors, from classic to modern.
