For centuries decorative nails have been used by artisans from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, both to secure the leather to wood and also to create a pattern on large surfaces of trunks, chair backs, or even headboards. A designer found examples of this long-lived international tradition at the Museum of International Folk Art and translated them into ceramics. The result is stunning.
