This mask of noble visage was often used by Ethiopian Chiefs to symbolize their authority. Sefah Mohammed replicates the mask with astute artistry as he carves it by hand from local sese wood. He paints and decorates it with clay and embossed aluminum plates, loyally adhering to the unique artistry of Ethiopia's Gauta people, whose name literally means "garden eggs."

Long and elegant, smooth contours convey a sense of achievement. The rich textures of brass repoussé lend an opulent feeling to this mask by Daniel Nyadedzor. The Akan people of Ghana believe such masks bring them success in everything they do. Nyadedzor names the piece Nkosoohene, or "King of Success."

A welcoming sense of peace exudes from the "Herjole" wall mask designed by Sefah Annwhar. Meaning "Peace Giver" in the Ga language, the mask is adorned with a dove looking downward. Annwhar carved the original sese wood mask by hand and accents it with embossed aluminum on the headdress, clay on the cheeks for texture, and painted details.

Beautifully made! Hands down everyone who is into African art should own this piece. I could not imagine my home without it! Also, the note that came with the item was beautifully written; it explained the artist’s background and the meaning off the mask. The mask means peace and it’s definitely a tranquil item and I absolutely love it and I am so glad I went ahead with this purchase. Lastly, the item was packaged well and did not come damaged. Sefah Annwhar replicates the unique artistry of ivory coast's Guro people with this impressive wall mask. Featuring two faces, fertility masks were given to Guro women to help them conceive. The talented Ghanaian artisan hand carved the sese wood mask and adorns it with painted details over clay textures. Guro people are regarded as the most prolific of African artists. Guro people were originally safe from French colonization, as they lived among the dense forests of ivory coast; however, this only lasted until 1912. Under French rule they had to change their nomadic ways to settlements, and rather than having a village leader, a distinguished elder would be designated to mediate disputes and serve as a liaison to neighboring tribes.

What a stunner! Cast from an original leaf with all the natural curves and scale of the real thing, this nearly thirty-inch unique wall accent is sure to command the room.
