The artisan of Ghana presents this ntomo mask, used for coming-of-age ceremonies in the Bambara tribe of Mali. Hand-carved from sese wood, the mask features antelope-like horns, a common feature in Bambara masks due to the tribe's close connection with the land. A human figure kneels between the horns at the top of the mask.

Inspired by the Guro tribe of the ivory coast, whose masks represent spirits of the underworld, this artisan handcrafts this wall mask. Using sese wood, the artisan carves a colorful peacock onto the top.

Emmanuel Opoku Asante captures the proud and noble stance of an elephant with this original mask. He carves the sese wood mask by hand, adding applications of white clay to give his design an aged, antique effect.

Based on traditional Ghanaian artistry, this elegant African mask depicts a long, slender face in yellow-green. Ali Mohammed creates an original design of graceful lines, giving it the distressed finish of a prized antique. Carved by hand of seasoned sese wood, the mask is named Tintin, or "tall" in the Akan language.

With its circular face and characteristic triangular nose, this African mask represents those used in rituals by the Kidumu men's society. Christopher Nyasafo takes his inspiration from the Teke-Tsaye people of Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Ghanaian artisan carves the piece by hand and paints it in orange and ivory.

Crowned with double horns, this mask by Salihu Ibrahim depicts a bird that represents a flying spirit. The design comes from the Bwa tribe of Côte d'Ivoire, and these spirits are portrayed with geometric shapes as they have no physical form. Bright color distinguishes the handsome carving.
