Ideal for retrofit or renovation, the Retro-Fit Complete Shower System installs easily and quickly. Simply replace the existing shower arm and add the system components without altering any in-wall plumbing. Once installed, it’s easy to use; a quarter-turn of the diverter lever (located at the bottom of the shower bar) switches water flow from the showerhead to the hand shower or you can have both outlets on simultaneously. Very nice shower system. It can be a bit finicky to put together as the tile / wall anchors tend to not go in straight and will kick all different directions. Hands down the biggest complaint is the use of the T-10 torx bit screws / bolts used to hold the main / top fitting. The T-10 torx depths are shallow and become very easy to strip. Because of how tight the wall anchors are when inserting into the 5/16" pilot hole, it makes turning the screw / bolt difficult and easy to strip. Couple suggested improvements for Grohe would be a make the T-10 torx bit screw / bolt deeper so stripping becomes less of a potential issue. It would be nice if Grohe sold the diverter handle and cap as a replacement part as it is one of the main wear items and easy to replace. Last suggestion would be to have a longer main pipe then the 25" version. A 36" version would be perfect. My unit appears to be that long because of the 6" extension for the rain shower head. Outside of that, the rest of the system is very well made. Time will tell how it holds up but excellent as far as one of the very few retrofit shower systems out there today.
