Combining the clean, unadorned lines of the International modernists with organic and geometric forms, the Catalina Collection is suggestive of the works of America’s mid-century modern designers. The years following WWII were a time of uncertainty but also of great hope and progress. Designs of the period reflected that sense of hope and the promise of an ideal future. In our current period, one finds comfort and nostalgia in Catalina’s retro-modern shapes and sensibilities. The Catalina Collection is crafted in solid American black walnut or cherry.
The tracks for the drawer seem to be placed too far forward, so that the front of the drawer gets damaged on the inside when you close it. The drawer had some nicks and scratches out of the box, and when you close it, it is slightly crooked and is not flush with the front of the desk. See photos. I purchased because of the sustainability rating. It would be too ironic to waste resources asking for a replacement, but I do feel disappointed by the damage and not sure how to fix.
