Based on an original Asmara painting by Elizabeth Moisan, an admirer of the great 18th-century English textile artist Ana Maria Garthwaite. The colors are inspired by early 20th century English botanical paintings. Wedgewood blue, violet, butter-yellow, and garnet flowers branch out to make a trellis on a pale yellow ground. Combining ancient Savonnerie dyeing and weaving methods with a loop weave invented by Asmara, this cut and loop pile rug has subtle shade and texture variations reminiscent of the best antique rugs.
