Based on an original Asmara painting by Elizabeth Moisan inspired by frescoes in a villa excavated near Pompeii. The design contains a subtle trellis pattern surrounded by a beautiful garland of leaves, fruit, pine cones, and acorns. This handmade cut and loop pile rug was made by combining a loop weave invented by Asmara with the ancient French Savonnerie pile weave. Woven with a complex yarn made up of several yarns of different shades, this rug has a unique texture and shading variations reminiscent of rare antique rugs.
