I received this bench on June 3, 2023. My husband and I worked together to construct it. I was very disappointed to find in the instructions that it is to be constructed with small dowel pegs. No screws are included. The instructions tell u that if a dowel breaks off while u are using a rubber mallet to hammer it in then u need to use a 1/8 drill bit to drill that one out and insert another one. I would have rather the manufacturer design this bench with screws as part of the construction which would have provided more strength and stability. However, we decided to give it a try and we began to construct it. Several dowels broke and I had to do as the instructions noted. It seems to be fairly tight together at this point but I will be monitoring it as time goes by. I applied a coat of Teak Oil to it and it brings out the beautiful grains and color. If I could give this purchase a negative I would. Do not buy this bench. It was sent wrapped in bubble wrap. One layer of bubble wrap. It’s filthy, and continues to drop rotting wood on the floor also unusable bc it will get on clothing if you brush past it. It has marker on it and doesn’t come off. It’s uneven and doesn’t sit straight in the floor. Cracks are irreparable and poorly made. And the most frustrating part is it damaged, and wayfair wants me to go buy new bubble wrap and wrap it up to return it. There’s hunks of square pieces of wood that actually can be picked up and removed from the bench, like a puzzle piece. Customer service was lousy with helping to resolve the problem. Nothing but a headache for a bench I was really looking forward to having. Get it somewhere else. I asked to have a replacement bench sent and they said no! Unlike our benches and chairs with backs, the lowest point in this seat’s curve is directly in the center, allowing you to face in either direction. This bench can also be used for seating at our rectangular dining table for an outdoor picnic dining set or in area where a bench with a back would be just too tall. Expertly crafted from solid teak wood with mortise & tenon joinery, it is sealed in a waterbased coat for added weather protection against the elements of rain, hail or shine. Over time, the wood will weather to a beautiful silver gray patina, or occasionally scrub down with soap and water to keep in pristine condition.
