This is a pretty lamp for decoration, not for illumination, since it gives off little light. The colors are beautiful just like the picture. I like to leave it on when I leave my room so I don't return to a completely dark room. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the outline of the flowers on the shade could be neater. With its retro-futuristic design, the Phasme is the first model born from the revival of the Rispal house. Drawing from the brand's DNA, the Phasme incorporates the main characteristics of its ancestor, the Praying Mantis, except the lampshade is made out of mouth blown oplaine. This insect-like lamp can serve as either an office or bedside light. Beyond merely illuminating, this "little creature" exudes a significant presence. The electric cord is in anthracite gray fabric but other colors available upon request. Georges Leon Rispal founded his lighting company in Paris in 1924, achieving notable success by the early 1950s with the "Formes Nouvelles" catalog, which offered avant-garde lighting influenced by Scandinavian design. Recreating Tiffany Studio's most beloved stained glass design; this stunning lamp is modeled after the original Dragonfly design. Diving Dragonflies with glowing Scarlet jeweled eyes and delicate metal filigree wings circle over hand-cut and copperfoiled pieces of Amber and Green art glass. The elegant cast metal base features a hand-applied Mahogany Bronze finish. The lamp is ideal as an illuminating accent piece for credenzas; occasional tables; and other spaces in residential and hospitality settings. The lighting design was inspired by dragonflies found in marshes and ponds throughout the US; from the Florida Panhandle and Everglades; to the Alaska wetlands. In the early 20th century; Tiffany Studios used artful mastery to develop the look of woven fabric from art glass. The shade features Multi-hued Plum fringe with dome brickwork intertwined with Emerald; Cobalt; Heather; Xanadu; Azure and Saffron art glass. The shade is created using the famous Meyda Tiffany copperfoil construction process and enhanced with a 3-Graces table base finished in Mahogany Bronze.
