The Brigadier floor lamp is a study in texture. Made of cast aluminum, the body of the lamp has a pitted surface achieved through a hand-hammering technique. Adding even greater interest is a layering of antique brass, black, and whitewash finishes on the stippled surface. The team (everybody I have ever talked with at Perigold), has been professional, listens well, and has offered good suggestions. I love the lamp. I love everything about it. Except during shipping one of the shade glass panels was broken. And, the body of the lamp wobbles, which it is not designed to happen. Having said this disappointing news, I have set up the lamp in a corner where hopefully my cleaning crew won’t attempt to move it. This was the third attempt to make it right and I have no confidence in the delivery teams to care for the lamp in transit. The manufacturer packs it so well, I’m surprised that either the shade or the body of the lamp could possibly be damaged. Clearly, based on the care given to pack it so tightly and well to stabilize both parts, the delivery teams must have not treated the boxes with care - or said another way, they either threw the boxes or something else to cause such damage. By the way, after the second lamp was damaged I spoke with the manufacturer about it. The woman I spoke with was horrified and in fact, spoke with the man who puts this lamp together who gave assurances that their QC process is tight and no lamp leaves the manufacturing floor unless all parts are functioning as intended. They went as far as to describe their approach to crafting this beautiful lamp. It makes me sad. Thank you for being a company that cares about the products you offer. I have purchased 4 different lamps through you within the past year or two, and love them all. That this stunning lamp has been mistreated during transit is no reflection on Perigold, and after personally speaking with the manufacturer, this unfortunate situation has no reflection on them.. Rattan rods fastened to the thin stem of the Reed Floor Lamp are held on the body by rope binding.
