Its conical sides are angled out to ensure more room for evaporation while more heat is retained by the walls - resulting in faster cook times. Internal markings in both US and metric units make measuring much easier. Like all Viking contemporary cookware, this pan is constructed with an aluminum layer sandwiched between two layers of 18/8 stainless steel - providing exceptional heat transfer while making the pan durable and usable on all cooktops including induction. I love this pot! I got the 6qt. I can double many recipes or not worry about spillage. It could even fit a whole chicken. It’s a nice size, but not overly large to store. I like how it’s so easy to clean and I don’t really have to deal with staining like enameled cast iron. It’s so light weight also. Love this beautiful little stock pot! It heats quickly and evenly. I did stir my sauce pretty regularly, but it did not stick to the bottom of the pan at all. This is just the strainer not a stock pot. It will work in a stock pot. You don’t get a lid or a pot it is just the strainer that is pictured even though it says it is a stock pot. I have a few pieces of cookware by Mepra, and I was not disappointed in this medium size soup and casserole pot. First off, my other soup pots are quite large whereas this one is the perfect size for cooking for two or even one. It’s extremely well made with a sturdy lid which fits tight and nice large handles for easing carrying. It distributes the heat evenly, and clean up is a breeze with the non-stick surface.
