This machine is fantastic. I looked for a used slicer but the high quality machines were from supermarkets. Too big and heavy. I looked at some very excellent Chinese slicers but I decided to spend a little more for the Berkel. This slicer is not light but I can easily carry it around the kitchen. It slices prosciutto tissue thin. Instead of paying $15 pound for sliced roast beef I cook a roast for $6/lb.
