Timeless terrazzo goes contemporary in this collection of large-format porcelain tiles, including Moorish-influenced fish scale and fin motifs. Designed and made in Italy, Kobe honors the rich history of terrazzo—the blending of marble chips and clay invented in the 16th century—while reimagining a classic with modern 3-D printing. Interior designers love it for its ability to blend with almost any style from traditional to transitional to contemporary. I received a sample of these tiles from Apollotiles and wanted to share my honest first impression. The first thing I noticed was the packaging. It was very secure and the tile arrived in perfect condition with no cracks or damage, which is really important for something like this. The design is beautiful in person. The blue tone is soft but still stands out, and the matte finish gives it a more modern and elevated look instead of something overly shiny. The basketweave pattern adds texture and makes it feel more custom. Even as a sample, the quality feels solid and well made. The porcelain has a nice weight to it and does not feel fragile. Since I only received a sample, I have not installed it yet, so I cannot speak to long term durability or the installation process. But based on the look and feel, it definitely gives a high quality impression. Overall, it looks really good and feels like a great option if you are going for a clean and elevated tile design..
