FALSE ADVERTISING. May hold 12 STEAK knives, but can only hold 1 normal size kitchen knife per slot. Knives sit very loose either way. It is exactly what I expected pertaining to functionality. The size is excellent and I really have a few empty spaces. It gives the room/space between the knives and I was able to put all of my steak knives in the block. I gave 4 stars not 5 because of the color. It is not brown at all, it is beige or tan and the picture displays a varied brownish color. There are no variations and I hope that I can stain it so it would be darker. I liked the knife block very much, except for the open holes on the bottom. I know that they all have this which I don't like. Some of my knives are long and the touch my granite counter top which is a no-no. I would like to see them enclosed or a tray that you set the block in. For now, the taped a piece of card board on the bottom and trying to come up with something better to protect my granite. I know you can come up with a solution and when you do, let me know.. Sandra.
