Described as goat leather from India and a maximum load of only 220 lbs, this is a split-leather hide that is characteristically thin, not supple, and will be prone to cracking. However, it's a very nice color and the diamond quilt is well done. Leather edges and overlaps are not pinned or tacked, but tucked and glued. If used occasionally (infrequent dining room use) I suspect these will look fine and function for over a decade. We ordered 16 sets of these chairs, and the order was cancelled, re-entered, delayed, half the order sent, half the order delayed. It has been extremely messy. The Wayfair reps have been amazing, and I pity them having to iron out all of these disasters with both me and my client. The upper part of the chairs is very nice. However, 2 of the 4 chairs could not be assembled properly due to misalignment of the leg attachments to the chair portion. After hours of attempting to screw in the legs, we were only able to insert 5 out of 6 screws on two of the chairs. We hope they don’t fall apart. I did contact customer service about the issue; they are sending 2 new leg attachments, but we are worried we might still have the same alignment problems. At least they did attempt to solve the problem. We do not recommend these chairs due to assembly issues. Also, there is leather cording that runs along the chair arms. It makes it uncomfortable to rest your arms there. The chairs are nice-looking and the black legs match our existing kitchen table. They are also comfortable, so we have decided to keep them..
