We suggest that birdbath tops not be left outside in the winter. Once the top fills with water/snow and freezes, the top may crack. All birdbath/fountain bases, bench legs, and statuary should be raised off the ground in winter so they will not freeze to the ground surface. Ideally, a fountain should be stored indoors in the winter away from the elements. However, if a fountain bowl must be left outside, remove all pumps, rubber stoppers, drain pipes, finials, and small components, and cover the top with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic, making sure that water does not accumulate in the basin and freeze. Fountain pumps, finials, and other small components should be stored indoors. Check the fountain periodically to ensure that the cover is secure and water is not accumulating in any fountain component.

Well... I like it and keeping it, love the amount of water it holds, but... disappointed that I was told it was separate base and top and instead it's one piece, which makes it harder to dump and clean, and also heavier to move. And I guess I should have realized the nice leaf pattern on the inside doesn't show when filled with water, ah well. Also, looking at color samples they show "fluted", but base is more like a woodgrain. This kit offers up a pool on the top of each basalt rock. Because of the slight depression on the tops of the babblers, these fountains attract birdlife and showcase the water pulsing out. An elegant basin, the “bird bath” style bowl in the top of the rock holds about an inch of water which gently cascades over the sides and back into the reservoir.

I really love the look of this new fountain ! Smaller than my last one & easy to clean but cleaning out the motor area is more difficult because the space is hard to reach into. I now suction out the water like people do for their aquariums, brush it then flood out the water a couple times then refill . My neighborhood birds love to bathe in it daily when it is on & I do clean it weekly & add algaecide every other day too. I chose the Aged Limestone color...it was very hard to decide without seeing in person because of the many choices. It goes nicely with my new Aged Bronze LED garden lights also. Eloise. Eloise.
