This mirror is a special item and the picture does not do it justice. The mirrored field has been silvered by hand which gives it clarity and character you get no other way. The large mirror field is made up of 2 separate pieces of mirror carefully jointed and matched to each other. This was a technique used in making mirrors years ago. Because of the size of glass available, larger mirrors were made up of two or three separate mirror panels. The brass star in the center of the mirror has been cast in brass, polished, and finished in a silver leaf, making it a special accent. Lastly, the mirror is surrounded by smaller pieces of mirror that have been hand cut and beveled to perfectly fit and set off the center field. This mirror is a work of art made individually by hand.

As big as I wanted! The antiqued gold color is very one dimensional, I was expecting it to appear more like the picture where the color deepens in the crevices rather than what I got which was a very uniformly yellow gold throughout. This is absolutely stunning, the perfect piece to place in my foyer. I needed something substantial as I have 10ft ceilings and this, at almost 8ft tall is perfect. It is a solid piece, weighing over 100 lbs and does take 2 people to move into position. We also secured it using the attached wire with bolts into the wall studs to prevent any mishaps. The delivery was smooth, 2 people brought in the mirror (still in its box) and placed it in the entryway. We took care of unboxing and placement - a bit of a chore, if you are not handy would recommend paying for someone to do it. This mirror is just the right level of sophistication without being gaudy/overly decorative and I highly recommend if you have the space. A true statement piece.. Ps. Overland Park, KS.
