We suggest that birdbath tops not be left outside in the winter. Once the top fills with water/snow and freezes, the top may crack. All birdbath/fountain bases, bench legs, and statuary should be raised off the ground in winter so they will not freeze to the ground surface. Ideally, a fountain should be stored indoors in the winter away from the elements. However, if a fountain bowl must be left outside, remove all pumps, rubber stoppers, drain pipes, finials, and small components, and cover the top with burlap or any absorbent material (old blanket/towel) and then wrapped with dark plastic, making sure that water does not accumulate in the basin and freeze. Fountain pumps, finials, and other small components should be stored indoors. Check the fountain periodically to ensure that the cover is secure and water is not accumulating in any fountain component.

I really love the look of this new fountain ! Smaller than my last one & easy to clean but cleaning out the motor area is more difficult because the space is hard to reach into. I now suction out the water like people do for their aquariums, brush it then flood out the water a couple times then refill . My neighborhood birds love to bathe in it daily when it is on & I do clean it weekly & add algaecide every other day too. I chose the Aged Limestone color...it was very hard to decide without seeing in person because of the many choices. It goes nicely with my new Aged Bronze LED garden lights also. Eloise. Eloise. The Beauvais fountain is a beautiful piece, exactly as depicted. Perigold was very helpful in coordinating the delivery and what to expect. The assembly instructions from the manufacturer (Campania International), left a lot to be desired… but I was able to email them for clarification on what the completed assembly of the copper tubing In the upper urn should look like after following the vague instructions. Also, they left out a needed stopper in the shipment. Without this piece, the fountain would not hold water. There was no mention of this extra stopper in the assembly instruction's, but I was able to call Perigold and Campania international to report the issue, and they sent the stopper. Actually, this stopper allows draining, cleaning, and refilling the fountain an easy task… but again no mention of that… which should be a great a great selling point. So, the service up to that point was great. 4 days later, I emailed the manufacturer about an issue where the pump was tripping the GFCI outlet. They were not as helpful with the trouble shooting. I managed to figure out and resolve the problem myself, which turned out to be the plug attached to a timer was getting wet. I had to encase that connection in a plastic bag, and the problem was resolved… but it would have been nice for them to help with the trouble shooting. This last experience makes me question what kind of support I will get going forward. So far, I do love the fountain and have no regrets about purchasing. I got the limestone version of this fountain, and it looks absolutely perfect where I have it. It fits the Italian aesthetic of my home and backyard beautifully, and the limestone was definitely the right choice. One thing to be aware of is the sound. The water drops about two feet, so it produces a fairly loud "faucet running" sound. That's inherent in the design, and I'm looking at some simple ways to soften it a bit, possibly with a small rain chain. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with how it looks. I also retrofitted a light into the basin, attaching it to the underside of the upper splash palette with cement adhesive. I ran the light cable out through the rear silicone plug alongside the pump cable, and it worked beautifully. Everything is nicely watertight and the light really adds to the fountain at night. One suggestion if you do something similar: I'd use a little silicone sealant around the cables where they pass through the plug. It's an easy extra precaution to make sure you maintain a watertight seal. My only real complaint is the absolutely insane amount of packing material. I certainly appreciate that the fountain arrived in pristine condition, but the shipping container was probably three times the size of the fountain itself. When it arrived, I actually thought I'd ordered the wrong fountain. It was so enormous that the guys helping me move it were making fun of me for buying such a ridiculously oversized fountain. Opening it up and discovering that it was, in fact, the fountain I'd ordered was a great surprise. Cleaning up afterward was not. There were four wooden pallets, packing hay everywhere, additional concrete packing material, and a mountain of plastic wrap. It took me about half a day to clean everything up, and I eventually had to get a city crew to haul away the remaining packaging. That said, the packing clearly did its job. The fountain arrived in perfect condition, it looks fantastic, and I'd absolutely buy it again. Five stars for the fountain. Maybe three stars for the adventure of unpacking it.. Robert. Oakland, CA.
