Carlo Alessi was born in Granerolo (Verbania) in 1916, studied technical design at the OMAR institute in Novara, and, at an early age worked in the metal workshop set up by his father, Giovanni, in 1921. From the mid-thirties until the mid-forties, he designed many Alessi works including the “Ottagonale”, “Scalini”, “Cylindrical” and “Bombé'” series. In the fifties, he became managing director of the company bringing with him a new international dimension, and began working with new external designers. He was president of Alessi S.p until 2009 when he passed away.

Designed by Michel Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui. The designers drew their inspiration from their home, Casa Boucquillon: A place for experimentation, meditation, and work where they live in sync with nature. The perforated pattern of the “Bark” range recalls the bark on the trees around the house. The press filter coffee maker allows the preparation of coffee with a particular taste, ideal for those who appreciate brewed coffee that is long but intense.

The 9091 kettle has a melodic whistle made of brass in a shape that has never been seen before and consists of two small vents in which the tuners that reproduce the notes mi and si are inserted. Richard Sapper created this kettle inspired by a childhood remembrance, the poetic sound of boats' sirens at the River Rhine: This is because the melody that accompanies the vapor outlet must be pleasant and not anxious like the whistle of boilers. This induction kettle is a polysensory object that will not interrupt an enjoyable break with a whistle but with a captivating melody.

Lorenzo Piccione di Pianogrillo, born in Legnano but originating from a historic Sicilian family that moved to the north, took courses at the Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan, and at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, also in Milan. He has maintained contact with the land of his origins, transforming family properties into a modern and prestigious olive-oil agricultural enterprise. He has thus developed great experience in the production of extra virgin olive oil over the years, reflecting his great passion for agriculture and the production of quality olives. He has two children, he is a photographer and a keen pianist. Köbi Wiesendanger, Swiss, was born in Zug. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule, Zurich. He has worked as an art director. He opened his studio, working on the design and creative consultancy in the areas of furnishing, fashion, and communications. He also works as an illustrator and creator of characters, above all in Italy and Japan. With his wife, he formed the company Avant de Dormir. Some of his design works have been exhibited in museums, under the direction of Philippe Starck and Jean Nouvel. He likes being a painter.

La Cupola is the coffee maker designed in 1988 by Aldo Rossi. La Cupola was created from the desire of the designer to create a coffee pot easily available for everyone, thus gaining a lot of public success. This coffee maker is a small table architecture with a dome-shaped top, functional and at the same time beautiful to see. An icon of contemporary industrial design, with which one can prepare and serve a great coffee.

9090 is the first espresso coffee maker in Alessi's history, but also the first of several Compasso d'Oro awards and the first Alessi item exhibited at the MOMA in New York. "I wanted to give this machinery the features that others do not have." With these words Richard Sapper described the idea from which he started. 9090 is original not only for its special shape but also for some functional innovations such as the enlarged base that allows to maximize heat, the anti-drip spout and the lever lock that allow one to open the coffee pot with a simple gesture of the hand.

Naoto Fukasawa is a Japanese product designer. Fukasawa collaborates with world-leading companies and brands. He also works as a consultant for major international manufacturers. Winner of numerous awards, including the 2018 Isamu Noguchi Award. He published a few books, the recent one is 'Naoto Fukasawa Embodiment' (Phaidon). Since 2012, he is the Director of Nihon Mingei-kan (The Japan Folk Crafts Museum).

The pots of the Mami collection, created by the designer Stefano Giovannoni, are a hymn to the soft and rounded shapes of the tools that make up the Italian tradition and from which the delicious scents of Sunday lunch for the whole family spread throughout the house. The Mami pot set is made of stainless steel 18/10, with a glossy finish.

Lorenza Bozzoli was born in Milan. She studied art at Brera where she qualified in the 80'. After early work experience as a fashion designer of shoes and accessories in New York where she lived for 3 years, back in Milan, she set up her studio in the inspiring area of Brera. In 2001 she did her first project for Alessi a table set in PMMA for kids with infinite possibilities of visual effects. She now works for various internationally renowned companies such as Alessi, Dedon, Moooi, Dilmos, Colè, Tato, Spazio Pontaccio, and Tog. She participated in many exhibitions in Italy (Triennale MI) and abroad (Cooper Hewitt NY) and many others. Winner of EESC European Award for Excellent Sustainable Design 2013 with Fedro chair for Dedon. She also taught to integrate trends into creative strategy at the IED ( Istituto Europeo di Design) and still lives and works in Milano in Foro Buonaparte 54. Gabriele Chiave was born to diplomat parents in Metz in 1978, Gabriele Chiave knows no boundaries. He lived in many cities and countries. These diverse resident experiences enable him to bring a global perspective to design like no other. He spent significant time at Marc Sadler studio and working with prestigious Italian brands such as Alessi. Currently serving as creative director at Marcel Wanders, this art aficionado and jazz lover oversees all projects in product and interior design, and art direction for a range of premium brands - passionately leading all to participate in the expression of beauty and technical simplicity to expand the human experience.

The product and presented for the first time to the public at the "La Tavola apparecchiata" ("The set table") exhibition at the WW's exhibition space in Neustifgasse 32 in Vienna, this cutlery was produced by hand in silver and silver plate until 1910-12. The service, which was in dotazione anche al Cabaret Fledermaus, fully reflects the search for functionality combined with extreme formal elegance and refined working of materials that are so typical of the Wiener Werkstatt. And if some contemporaries had reservations on the practicality of some of the pieces (the transversal concavity of the tablespoon was a controversial point), these were quickly dispelled by those who actually used them. Made in 18/10 stainless steel, the cutlery was reissued by Alessi in 2000.

Known for being the original developer of the "principles of the total work of art," Josef Hoffmann would incorporate these ideals into original historic Alessi designs of 1906 such as the Rundes Modell Flatware. Ettore Sottsass, internationally recognized as one of the initiators of the revolution in design has conceived this salt castor that has become a classic, a true archetype of the restaurant industry and private service, an "essential" object, with its proportions, lightness, and function.
