This shower controller is exactly what I was looking for.

This thing is kind of a joke to set up. It feels like a faucet company that dipped their toe into IoT by hiring a cheap offshore company to build their app and technology. I felt like I had to have my fingers crossed during setup and it was ultimately successful but mostly because I work in the tech industry and I can tell what’s going on under the hood and poke at things that wouldn't otherwise be straightforward. I had to try a few times to get it to pair up to my wifi. I think the randomized security code may have changed due to taking too long during my setup causing it to fail. The whole process felt sloppy. The details aren’t important, what matters is that hundreds of other companies out there do this better with IoT devices. Once it was finally connected, things seemed straightforward. The app is non-intuitive. It gives you a list of stuff that makes you think you could click on each item to change it but what you have to do is select “edit” to edit all of them then change your item. I wanted to dim the ridiculously bright screen with the tacky Matrix-like raindrop animation so I set it to “low” and hit “done” but it had no effect. Reboot required for it to pick up changed config? Setting it to turn off the screen at idle seemed to work, there’s just no feedback on the panel to let you know it received the command you sent it. Besides all that, it seems to work fine. Maybe I’m being picky but it just doesn’t set up as smoothly as something like Sonos or a nice Wi-Fi camera. I wish the app didn’t make an annoying chime when you select your shower. Who’s idea was that? I can just imagine a bunch of creative types sitting in a meeting room writing down ideas and the chime was one of those ideas that nobody else had the guts to say “that’s a dumb idea” so now when you click on your shower it goes “Diiiing” like windows 95.

The Moen digital shower controller is a nice upgrade. We needed a controller on the opposite side of the shower from the shower head, so the water could be turned on without entering the shower. Also, you can operate the shower through an app and it's nice to see the temperature or set it to an exact temperature. It will heat up the water and hold it until you are ready to start your shower.

Love the functionality. It’s awesome to run your bath on a timer and walk away. Don’t love the sound it makes when you press the button. Kind of sounds like a broken speaker
