This is a very good alternative to the current, highly priced smart bassinet on the market. It has more features, including the ability to stream your own music, more movements, and is a more attractive addition to your home (plus higher mattress for baby which saves mom and dads backs! ). It is great to be able to use your own swaddle or no swaddle at all and still have baby be safe. The touch panel is great to control the bassinet in addition to the app! Some issues with the app and functions.

I received the Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet as part of a product testing program. This bassinet has saved our sleep! We were originally cosleeping with a traditional non smart bassinet in our room but our velcro baby would not stay asleep in it for long. With this bassinet, we were able to move her to her own room and utilize the smart features to help soothe her when she just needed a little rocking to get back to sleep. If she is in a full blown meltdown, the CryAssist technology alerts us to a potential cause. It's not always the most accurate or the fastest to provide readings, but I feel with some more training-rating the algorithm could potentially read our baby's cries with more accuracy. The app is a little clunky UX-wise, and takes a little getting used to, and there are a TON of tools to the point that it's almost a little overwhelming, but that also means that this bassinet could work for a wide variety of babies, and should appeal to the most data-obsessed parents. Overall we have enjoyed the looks and functionality of this bassinet, and honestly I wish there was an option to convert it to a larger crib! We are spoiled with the ability to turn it on with the tap of a finger or the app, and it's helped our baby get herself to sleep while still drowsy.

It has a lot of options to work with to find a good soothing combination for baby, and can be a great assistance at night as a first line of defense before having to get up and pick baby up. I especially like the bluetooth option so I can pipe in some shushing sounds for my baby at night. I will say that I wish it were shorter with a slightly larger sleeping area, and that the mattress pad cover had a better design to make it easier to remove and put back on, but overall, it's an attractive bassinet that works well, and looks good in my home.

This bassinet has some really cool features and could be a game changer for you, but it'll depend on if your baby takes to it. I appreciated how simple the design is, it can go with different decor styles. The construction feels sturdy and smooth and the unboxing was decently straightforward. No true assembly required, no tools, just clicking legs into place and standing up the bassinet portion. Now for the features- there's something called CryAssist which detects when your baby is crying and translates it for you (e.g. Baby is Hungry) in the accompanying app. Note that CryAssist is a subscription I believe. I do think the translations were fairly accurate, and cool for comparison to assess if your intuition syncs with the technology or not. Sometimes if you're really frustrated, it's a nice little boost to get reassurance, okay so maybe baby really is gassy and I should keep trying to relieve the gas. I don't think something like this is a must-have, but it is definitely a nice to have. The bassinet has 5 different movements that essentially rock or cradle the baby when in use. There's also a few different sounds like white noise and rain. So you can set up a response to play when the bassinet detects that your baby is crying. We nearly always defaulted to cradle motion and white noise, so when our baby cries, the bassinet automatically turns on the cradle motion and white noise. That's a pretty nice feature and there's different combos to try. You can also turn the bassinet into an audio monitor and step away from the bassinet, but listen to your baby on the app. The accompanying app is pretty straightforward and I preferred using it over the controls on the bassinet. You can also add another caregiver so your partner or other person can get the same alerts you do and control the app from their phone. I think this bassinet has the potential to really make a difference for some families- it could soothe your baby back to sleep during some of those rough nights. But for us it was trial and error, it worked great some nights, and other nights we weren't successful. I think this is just how it goes with baby products so it might be worth a try!
