The product dimensions listed in the description are misleading. The width given appears to be a width that includes the handle. It is not just the back plate. If you are needing a specific width for the back plate to cover a pre-installed knob, this width will not be accurate for you. The width of the back is 2 5/8".

I was looking for a way to dress up our new front door, and this totally fit the bill! It is beautiful and elegant, but small enough to be perfectly appropriate on the new front door. Love it!
