Sadly, this is a review of Perigold customer service, not the table, which is beautiful. Unfortunately the table arrived with a crack on the solid teak table top. We did not catch this until close to a month after receiving it because we were having large trees removed from our yard and wanted to keep the table safe, so we left it indoors and unassembled for 3 weeks during this large landscaping project. Once we assembled the table and notified Perigold of damage, they informed us we had only THREE days from the date of delivery to submit a damage claim and nothing could be done. This contradicts their own return policy, which clearly states there is a 30 day window. The customer service rep will not budge, and I am still unable to resolve this, now stuck with a 1400 cracked table. Surely customers often wait a few weeks to assemble due to moving, renovating, etc. We took a gamble with an online purchase this expensive and have learned a lesson w Perigold.

Fast delivery, easy to assemble, beautiful, heavy table. 4 stars because: predrilled holes didn’t align w mounting bracket, and a couple screws were missing. More importantly, when assembly was finished and table flipped over, one of the end boards has a significant crack with splinters (not shipping damage).

We have received two of these tables from Wayfair (one as a replacement for the first) and both arrived damaged. They both have splintering pieces in the top surface of the table which will require expensive repairs to prevent users from being injured by the sharp edges. Otherwise, the tables were solid, sturdy attractive.

Looked for hours for a table that would not whack my legs as I moved around the corner of it. The legs of this table allow for people to sit and maneuver comfortably at any spot around the table. YAY! The ends look like they may break off in a year or two but I don't have the energy to do anything about that. Assembly was simple, just needed a little help due to the weight of the table. The delivery guys were professional and quick. The packaging was mostly recyclable - after we played with these super large pieces of cardboard, of course! I am not sure if the wood is reclaimed teak or virgin teak. Looks good, and I am so happy with my table.

Let™s Talk About Teak Teak is a deciduous hardwood tree from the highlands of south-east Asia. It does not come from tropical rain forests. Teakwood has a naturally high oil content which makes it both stable and resistant to rotting when exposed to climatic extremes. So if you™re expecting (or not expecting, as is usually the case) 4 feet of snow followed by hot temperatures, this is the reason it is the preferred wood for outdoor furniture. Teak wood furniture when exposed to the outdoors, will form a silver-gray patina. This process will take approximately nine months, depending on the amount of sunlight and rain exposure. During the weathering process, you may notice some splitting or small cracks that appear in the wood. This is perfectly natural, as wood expands and contracts slightly when left outdoors. These cracks are cosmetic only and in no way affect the structural integrity of the furniture. Small cracks and hairline wood expansions are not covered by warranty and are completely normal in the aging process of teak wood that is outdoors and aging naturally. Grade-A Teak vs. Reclaimed Teak “ the difference is in the details Grade-A teak is unblemished, cleanest, and most stable, and is relatively more expensive. It™s like a brand new car, right off the lot, but without the new car smell. But do you remember your first car? It had a few imperfections and some blemishes that added to its character, but dad made sure it ran great and you™ll never forget it. You may wish you still had that car. With reclaimed teak, you can still have it all and it will last a lifetime too! Reclaimed teak has excellent endurance with minor blemishes like grooves, knots, splices, and other rustic features. Just like the additions you made to your rear-view mirror, these rustic features are intentional but do not detract from the sturdy, long-lasting quality of the furniture. Natural teak refers to the golden brown color of untreated teak which has the natural color because its oils. Teak protector, applied yearly on all teak surfaces of your furniture will help your furniture to maintain the golden brown color. You will need to thoroughly clean your teak every year and apply the oil carefully following the directions on the package. Reclaimed teak For our reclaimed teak collection that features the antique grey finish, the factory applied finish will last one or two seasons. The finish will either continue to age or may completely wear away depending on weather conditions. You can recondition if finish wears away by first cleaning teak with Golden Care Cleaner, allow it to completely dry and apply Golden Care Instant Gray to have the gray color back. While application of Instant Gray will not achieve the original look of the factory applied antique technique, it will help even out the color and give a instant look of gray. The other option for reconditioning the table is just simply cleaning the table with golden care cleaner and allow it to naturally gray, which will happen with in a couple weeks, we recommend applying Golden Care Teak Shield to prevent food stains (see Golden Care teak shield for more information). With either of the options above for applying protector to natural teak or applying finish to the greyed teak, be sure to follow product directions carefully and protect the surface beneath the furniture with a tarp or ground cloth. Apply product at your own risk “ try out the product on the underside first and remember that we are not responsible if you are displeased with the end results. Are you confused about what choice to make? Here™s the easy answer! Our recommendation for either our natural or antique greyed teak is to do as your grandmother did, and let your teak furniture weather naturally to a beautiful silvery grey. The time it takes to weather will vary with exposure to different climatic conditions, but it can happen within a 9-12 month period. A slight checking or lifting of the grain, even small cracks, may occur during this process - it is completely normal as the wood expands and contracts. Let your furniture age gracefully and witness the beautiful results which occur naturally and make your teak furniture virtually maintenance free. Just want to clean your teak? For mild cleaning, simply wipe down with a soft cloth using warm water. For more moderate cleaning, nothing fancy is needed. Just break out the dish soap and add one teaspoon to one quart of warm water and wipe down your teak with a soft cloth. Rinse using your garden hose with low pressure to remove any soap.
