The Michael Aram Pomegranate collection takes its inspiration from one of the most universal and ancient symbols in the world. The fruit has been prized across the globe, across cultures, and across time as a representation of life, rebirth, and renewal as well as fertility and union. I grew up around Pomegranate-from their use as natural dyes on the antique rugs I used to crawl on as a baby to an integral ingredient in the food that I love. When I'm at my home in New Delhi, I wake each morning to the taste of fresh-squeezed Pomegranate juice. The color, the smell, and the delicate flavor all make it feel like a magical elixir to me.

The Butterfly Ginkgo collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree, the Ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo," which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings, gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant. Executed at the highest level of handcraftsmanship, each piece is rendered in solid brass with hand-etched cocoon-shaped vessels. The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of the handcrafted process, capturing the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work.

The texture of Hammertone is an ancient surface treatment for metal that is achieved through the painstaking application of hammer marks, one by one, to shape the metal into various forms. Intricately hand-welded edges make each piece an individual work of art, with no two pieces being identical. The Michael Aram's Botanical Leaf collection takes its inspiration from the intricacies of form and texture found in particular types of foliage. Reminiscent of eucalyptus and seagrape, the structure celebrates the twisting branches as much as it does the leaves themselves. "The image of leaves and branches is eternal and has some kind of meaning for almost everyone. For me, the motif conjures a sense of freshness and fragility, while the materials and craftsmanship speak of something more robust, more human."

The Twist collection is inspired by the idea that the whole can be far greater than the sum of its parts. When elements are combined, they take on another feeling, greatness. Together, they are strong, but also I would argue, more beautiful. When lines are repeated, or wires are woven, there is a loveliness to the pattern that fascinates and pleases. Asymmetry is created that is calming and classical. "I often explore materials and create collections that are craft-based. The Twist was created while experimenting with intertwining wires. There is a fluidity and movement to the twists that I love. The twisted wires suggest a coming together of things that I find poetic."

Judaica comes from Michael's fascination with objects of ritual. Regardless of the faith with which they are connected, they are imbued with profound energy and meaning that holds a very special place for Michael Aram. Whether it is a unique object or derived from a motif with a broad collection, each piece is created with a particular sense of reverence and care in both the function and the design. "This is such a fun object! It suggests its function through its form. A matzah, matzah plate...I do that a lot and it always strikes me with such a sense of whimsy and surprise. The surface texture of the matzah, when it is interpreted in cast metal, also creates an unexpected beauty. I love that it comes with a bag for hiding so it creates a ritual for kids and a special memory of family events."

It's stunning ! I have had a mezuzah for awhile because mine broke so to have such a nice one now is both a relief and a blessing . Infact , because I live in an apartment building where many people come and go , I had to put my Mezuzah inside the house lest it be stolen .
