This exquisite secretary desk was handcrafted by artisans in Guangdong. The front panel, sides and drawer faces are finished in beautiful black lacquer, hand painted with delicate gold accents and a lovely Ching Ming Festival design scheme. The front drops down to form a desktop, complete with a practical configuration of shelves and drawers.

Just what I wanted. I'd been looking for about a year at all kinds of Chinoiserie secretary style desks including the full height ones (Like 7 feet) with the cabinet section above. But in the end I'm glad I chose this one. It has a nice amount of storage both in the drawers and in the vertical slots behind the door. In this versatile solid-walnut piece, what appears to be a simple chest conceals an unexpected feature. Just below its slightly overhanging top, softened with radiused edges, a shelf pulls out to create a wide, functional desktop with generous workspace. Beneath it, a false drawer front drops down to reveal a compartment with a power strip for electronics. Two spacious drawers provide storage and are completed with shaped metal pulls in Iron Gray, complementing the case’s Dark Roast finish.
