These are lovely stools and I am really pleased with the design and comfort. However, I quickly learned that the lightly oiled finish was insufficient to protect against ordinary kitchen splashes and spills. I did not want to send them back, but to avoid the disappointment of difficult-to-remove stains later I applied two coats of clear matte polyacrylic. Purchased as open box but still shocking to see how this was returned and re-sold. One chair has noticeable scuffs on the armrest and was re-shipped without any quality control inside a badly damaged box and purposefully destroyed packaging materials including forcefully smashed pieces of wooden pallet. The second chair came in perfect condition and extremely well-packaged, so whomever returned the first chair made an wantonly violent effort to damage a beautifully made piece.
