The Atlas Balancing Log Sculpture has a storied namesake. In Greek mythology, Atlas was the Titan god of endurance whom Zeus tasked with holding up the celestial heavens for eternity. The black figures extending from the black base on this sculpture, which support the organically shaped wood artifact, have as weighty a job as the mythical hero. With this sculpture, we’ve taken a piece of chamcha wood that would have been one of Nature’s castaways and made it into an elemental design statement. This god from Mount Olympus is usually depicted with wings on his heels because he has to travel quickly to deliver Zeus's orders wherever he is called. This item is finished using real bronze powder, making it not only appear bronze but also take on the properties of real bronze. Please note if this item is used outdoors or exposed to water, the finish will develop a patina.

Atlas, son of Iapetus and the nymph Clymene LED the rebellion of the Titans against Zeus and, as a punishment, he was condemned to hold up the sky on his shoulders countless legends exist about this strong man who bore the weight of the celestial spheres to keep them separate from the earth and maintain the balance of the universe. He was also attributed with great learning in mathematics and astrology. Making this Atlas required a set of 12 different molds to create the porcelain fragments to compose the final piece. To further enhance the strength of this god, it was decided not to apply any other color except for some carefully chosen touches of golden luster and the iridescent metalized enamels of the sphere.

The female figure has been celebrated in art as long as artists have been expressing their creativity. Behind the apparent simplicity of the anniversary waltz is a composition that contains a wealth of detail that makes it very special. On one hand, the floral patterns etched on the woman's dress or the beads in her necklace and the flowers in her hair, handmade, bead by bead and petal by petal. On the other hand, the successful color combination of the black tuxedo and the mauve dress. As a whole, this glazed porcelain creation captures to perfection the unique connection that takes place when a couple dances together in unison, carried away by the rhythm of the music.

Wood "breathes" and it is normal for cracks to present themselves over time. This is not considered a defect.

This porcelain sculpture decorated with a compelling combination of white, black, and golden luster is the result of the collaboration between Lladró and Laolu Senbanjo, a Brooklyn-based Nigerian visual artist, musician, human rights lawyer, and activist. Senbanjo's graphic language, which combines influences from the Yoruba culture from Nigeria with a more contemporary treatment, is coupled with the sculptural form to give rise to a singular body of work with the personal stamp of a committed artist. Rendering Senbajo's drawing in porcelain called for outstanding work in two main areas. On one hand, the ornamentation team had to etch each one of the strokes by hand so that they could be recreated in the pieces. On the other, it required the expert hands of the decoration team to carefully paint them in black and golden luster.

Art inspires art. That is the case of this composition which borrows its reference from the work of Sorolla, the celebrated impressionist known as the "painter of light". Born in the coastal city of Valencia, Spain, this painter of genre scenes, seascapes, and landscapes made a name thanks to the intensity of light in his work and his ability to capture sunlight and shadows. This is the Sorolla, whose 160th birthday is being celebrated, that inspired this scene of a couple on a romantic boat ride. This creation is a good example of sculptural composition and ornamental wealth. Worth highlighting is the meticulous bas-relief handwork to recreate the embroidery of the lady's dress and shawl, the patterns on her parasol, and the etchings on the boat, conveying so well the grain and texture of wood. A creation dominated by white, the color so closely associated with the work of Sorolla, pastel tones, and the flowers, handmade petal by petal.

The love between Radha and Krishna has given rise to some wonderful fables and their story is an important part of major Hindu celebrations like Jhulan Yatra, the festival of swings. After the summer heat, when the clouds float high in the sky, the Brajwasi celebrate the arrival of the first rains. With the onset of monsoon season, ponds and lakes fill with rainwater, lotus flowers blossom, the air is scented with a pleasant fragrance, and the forests of Vrindavan are decorated with wonderful Jhula, like the one on which Radha and Krishna swing in this high porcelain creation. Following tradition, the swing is finely decorated with many flowers which, like the garland worn by Krishna, have all been handmade one by one, with over 200 petals. The costumes worn by Radha and Krishna signify their spiritual importance and Lladro artists have recreated them in minute detail. From the jewelry, etched by hand and decorated with golden and copper luster, to the embroidery of the fabrics or the decoration applied by hand combining deep rich colors like orange and blue. Radha Krishna on a Swing is a creation that seems to float in the air, suspended over a wood base. In this way, the divine couple rocks back and forth forever on their legendary swing, conveying to the world their divine love.
