Carved by hand from native sese wood, this handsome African mask is an original design by Awudu Saaed. The regal personage is adorned with colorful seed beads and is named <i>Asafoatse</i> – 'a sub-chief' in the Ga language.

What started as an experiment of mixing metal with wood evolved into this stunning collection of furniture and wall pieces. Molten aluminum and brass are carefully poured into reclaimed wood from India. The temperature must be carefully controlled; too hot and the wood burns, too cool and the alloy doesn’t distribute evenly.

Wayan Rendah transforms a single block of suar wood into two faces. Their expressions convey emotional duality, one is sad and one is happy. Rendah carves the mask by hand with skillful artistry as he sets the faces in a way similar to the traditional Yin yang image of complementary duality.

The Cast Naturals collection highlights our skills at taking an innovative material and making it feel as if it sprang from nature. This is made of composite that has been molded to look like a piece of burled wood that it took nature ions to create and then covered in a handsome faux wood finish. The advantage of having a decorative accessory made from this durable material is that it will long outlast its natural counterparts pulled from the forest floor. Angel Cerón creates an original mask that blends elements of both Maya and Aztec art and culture. The face depicts the Sun Jaguar of the underworld seen in an incense burner from the Classic Maya site of Palenque. The mouth makes reference to Chac, the Maya rain god. Covered with skulls, the headdress is an interpretation of the Aztec zompantli, a rack where the heads of sacrificial victims were displayed as an offering to the gods.

Long and elegant, smooth contours convey a sense of achievement. The rich textures of brass repoussé lend an opulent feeling to this mask by Daniel Nyadedzor. The Akan people of Ghana believe such masks bring them success in everything they do. Nyadedzor names the piece Nkosoohene, or "King of Success."
