The Wreath Sculpture is a golden corona of oak leaves, acorns, and pride. The sculpture depicts a triumphal wreath, which had special meaning in Greek and Etruscan culture. In Greek lore, it conveyed status by the virtues of victory and achievement. The diadem of impasto oak leaves represents the wisdom of Zeus, for whom a grove of oaks was sacred. Wreaths like this would have been awarded to commanders who had just won a major battle. And, who doesn’t need that?
This is a beautiful piece and works well for where I have it placed. I was unaware, based on the photo, that there was an amount of orange on the piece. I selected this piece due to its all gold color. it is very well-made and substantial. The color variation is not very noticeable from a distance but up close it is. I wish the photos I saw when ordering were more evident of that. I will continue to purchase from Perigold as I love the individual pieces that are available.. Lenannette. Meridian, ID.
