Although born and raised in Los Angeles, Artist Van Garrett has been heavily influenced by traveling abroad to a multitude of countries, especially Iceland. Music is a big part of his life and it sparked his creativity even before he began painting. In fact, Van did not begin painting until he was in college and he is self-taught. “Art was something that was always in my genes. It makes me happy. I believe that every artist leaves a piece of themselves in their artwork. In turn, it makes me happy when people get to own part of those pieces to share with the world.” Van prefers working in liquid acrylics and watercolors because of their fluidity. “I like how the colors flow. I like to observe how the different shapes and mixtures come alive.” Van finds animals, humans, and nature are his favorite subjects to paint. He is inspired by nature, people, and music. When not painting, Van runs marathons, travels, and plays the guitar.

Artist Zoey Riley was born to very conservative and traditional parents, who did not support her interest in fine arts. Zoey pursued her passion in fine art secretly as an adolescent, due to her parent’s restrictions, and used the art she viewed in galleries as her tutor. As soon as she was of age, she fled her hometown to live in New York City in order to be closer to a fast-paced environment, concentrated with art galleries. Zoey used everything around her to draw inspiration, from the street signs to the dancers seen through the windows of dance studios. After taking in all she could from the modern New York art scene, Zoey made her move to San Francisco, where she could expand her skills and be a part of the culture filled scene. Today, she resides in Southern California, still searching for the experience that will take her to the next level.

Born in Modesto and raised in Long Beach, California, artist Ryan Brown's focus in college was studying business. Ryan took a few college art courses but is mostly self-taught. He finds pleasure in studying the work of artists he admires and creating his own pieces. Ryan believes that “Art is human creativity. It is meant to inspire and evoke emotion, just like music.” He finds inspiration through everyday life and sees each moment as an opportunity to create new art. Ryan enjoys working with a variety of mediums, but prefers oils and charcoal.

Artist David Erickson grew up emulating the works of the masters using rudimentary tools. David received his fine arts training while apprenticing under other painters and is primarily self-taught. He became an artist through sheer will, grit, and determination. “I enjoy layers of transparency and the unpredictable nature of water-based mediums”. Eric explores themes of memory and place often through abstract and draws inspiration from the world around him, across a multitude of disciplines. David’s passions are drawing, painting, illustration, design, film, and photography. When David is not painting, his time is spent enjoying the outdoors with canine companions.
