This fish tail vase from Legend of Asia takes its name from the flared, finlike rim that opens above a full rounded shoulder. The porcelain vase is glazed in a warm persimmon tone that makes the orange vase glow under lamplight. Circling the body is a hand painted landscape motif of layered mountains, drifting water and small pavilions, brushed freehand so no two pieces share the same scene. High fired in a southern Chinese kiln town where porcelain was first invented, the piece is waterproof and weatherproof, at home as mantel decor indoors or on a sheltered terrace. Slight variation in shape and finish is part of its character. Use it as an accent vase in a chinoiserie decor room or as a standout in a collected asian decor and home decor arrangement.
