The Wildflowers collection is a celebration of often overlooked, disregarded, and underappreciated flowers. The inspiration for Wildflowers came from the discovery of a set of 19th-century hand-tinted, botanical illustrations which, over time, had faded to muted, dusty tones. "I was having lunch with friends on a veranda overlooking the sea when I looked down to the lawn and saw a fallen Palm frond. I love almost everything Michael Adam makes. This took some time to adjust to, admittedly. It was larger and gaudier than I expected from the photo. And the butterflies looked like insects. At the same time, the textures represent a metaphor for life itself – growth, vitality, and pulsation. Everybody has an emotional response when we see natural objects. We are part of all of us. What I enjoy about these pieces is that in a way we are 'slices' of nature, small vignettes of the forest. It is fascinating to imagine the outside world infiltrating my interior spaces as if the room is being gently consumed by nature."
