The mat is an off white color and it is more like a shadow box frame, so sticks out from the wall. I didn't expect it to come out quite so far. I do like the style and look of it, though. I'd like to clean the glass inside but am not sure how to do that. The concept is good, but am still deciding about the quality for price.
