Handwoven from raffia palm by artisans in Madagascar, where the fibre is stripped from the frond, sun-dried, and worked by hand. Raffia has been woven on the island for generations, and the craft still passes through families rather than factories. Each tote carries a row of cut fringe along the base and two rolled handles long enough to sit on the shoulder. The weave is dense enough for the bag to stand on its own when set down, and the fringe is cut from the same fibre as the body. Because the palm is dried in open air and worked by hand, colour depth and weave density vary slightly from bag to bag, making each one its own. Available in a natural undyed finish and in dyed colourways. Sourced directly from the artisans who make them, fair trade, ethically and sustainably sourced.
