Artist Commentary: In "The Playa II" the space is flattened and depth is suggested by the stacking of three different planes. At the bottom we see the beach with all its activity... figures, towels, beach chair, the ice cream vendor interact with each other activating the space. Just above with a suggestion of being further away we see the ocean with an array of blue to creating a visual play of shallow and deep. Dividing the field of blue a barrier rope with white egg shaped floaters divides the space in a playful way. Lastly the top layer represents the furthest scene where we see palms, beach and more water suggesting a peninsula that separates the two water masses. Bathed with light the space is further moved by the long shadows of the palm trees.
