Artist Commentary: The new series I'm creating features sheet music, some handwritten school notebook pages from France (dating from the 1800s) as well as charcoal, gesso, pastel and ink. I'm creating a series of abstracts and nudes using the paper as my canvas. In this series, I don't have any pre-conceived notions. I let the ink be my guide and whatever happens, happens. I love the simplicity of this painting, "Repose." Simple doesn't mean easy....this was actually one of the harder ones to paint!
