Artist Commentary: The photo reference for this painting actually had big white puffy clouds surrounded by a bright blue sky. When I got to my studio I took creative license and instead of creating what I saw in the photograph are used warm values for the light and cooler darker values for the shadows and ended up creating a much more interesting painting in my photo reference.
